Body mass index (BMI) is a simple calculation based on your height and weight that is used to check for obesity. A BMI of 18.5 to 24.9 signifies a normal weight for your height, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The formula, on the other hand, does not take into account your bodily makeup. Because muscle is denser than fat, athletes with a large amount of muscle frequently have a BMI that defines them as overweight.

Multiply the number of feet tall you are by 12 to get your height in inches. For instance, if you’re 5 feet and 10 inches tall, you’d multiply 5 by 12 to get 60 and then add 10 to obtain 70 inches.

Multiply the assignment grade by the grade weight. In this case, 85 multiplied by 20% equals 17 and 100 multiplied by 80% equals 80.

To get your total grade, add all of your weighted grades together. 17 points plus 80 points yields a weighted grade of 97 in this case.
